Michael Tabtabai July 11, 2013 Michael Tabtabai July 11, 2013 Fuel for 2 hours. We’ve gotten a lot of questions about our nutrition throughout the ride and here’s what worked. Small meals every 30-40 miles depending on terrain and heat. @skratchlabs & @bijuthechef taught us about King sandwiches - King’s Hawaiian dinner rolls with ham, cream cheese and jelly. We each ate about 20 per day. Plenty of @justins throughout the day, @thunderbirdbar and @epicbar in the jersey pockets for on the bike fuel. 2-3 bottles of @skratchlabs per hour. Not pictured: donuts, brownies, muffins (mini), muffins (large), maple bars, cookies, and did I say donuts?
Michael Tabtabai July 11, 2013 Michael Tabtabai July 11, 2013 Next stop: PDXThis bike has a one-way ticket back to Portland where it is time to begin planning its next cancer-fighting adventure. Thank you to our presenting sponsor @thevanillaworkshop and our component sponsors SRAM, Enve, Quarq, Chris King and Sugar Wheelworks. Also thanks to Poler Stuff for the orange bidons!
Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 The AtlanticStage 24 - we reached the Atlantic after nearly 3500 miles of riding. Thank you for all of your encouraging messages along the way. Leave It On The Road is just getting started!
Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 Stage 24 Right now we are 3 miles from the finish. We stopped to clean up a bit and compose ourselves. We’ve spent the last 4 hours of this 150 mile riding completely all-out. No regrets, nothing left on the table. Every time we’ve thought we had nothing left, there was always a little more. What do you say we go check out the beach?
Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 Stage 24Yes I said ALL your donuts please. (at Dunkin Donuts)
Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 Rain. Gravel. Night ridingAnother requested shot. This one is for @rollingmike who wanted to see some rain riding. We got hit by a crazy summer thunderstorm while on gravel roads and had to power through it by the lights of the team van as the sun was setting. Anything else you all would like to see? Let us know and we’ll do our best to post it.
Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 Michael Tabtabai July 10, 2013 HeadlightsWe’ve finished riding by the lights of the team van so many times on this trip I can’t even remember what stage this is from. But we didn’t last night, and we hopefully won’t tonight. We’re about to roll out for our final 150 miles from New Haven to Plymouth. We’ll touch the Atlantic and finally see our friends and family. This ride may be near its end, but Leave It On The Road is just beginning. We’re excited to share what comes next with you… After we take care of this last piece of business. Thank you all for your support and your reposts and donations!
Michael Tabtabai July 9, 2013 Michael Tabtabai July 9, 2013 Stages 22 & 23 added up to about 22,000 feet of climbing. We should’ve gotten @mrjoestaples to donate a buck per foot of climbing instead of a buck a mile. (at Up Up Up)
Michael Tabtabai July 9, 2013 Michael Tabtabai July 9, 2013 Another requested photo.@fameandspear wanted to see some fog & we finally found it this morning in NY on stage 23.
